ON ANGLING.
Quite sure that there I had him
As he flackered on the sand, From bridge that instant bounding, I sprung upon the strand.
Into the water jumped,
Splashed on through thick and thin, Just as I jumped out again,
He just again jumpt in.
" Bravo!" I called, " brave fellow,
Neat trick that in its way, Perhaps ere long you'll find though,
We trick for trick can play."
Then heavy I held on him,
He did but weakly shoot, And easy drew him onward
Till he was near my foot.
But there, the rogue, he saw me,
And did not like my phiz, Off like an arrow darted,
My line went with him—whiz-z.
Wild he cut the foaming surge, "That's right," 1 said, "go 0:1,
The more vou play al that game, The sooner you'll be done."
